rostick555
When cycling a newly established tank it could smell a little rotten sometimes. If it is an established tank then there is probably something rotten inside of it. Something died and got stuck in a corner somewhere. wicca32
if there is a bad egg smell then something is not right. be it gas pockets in the substrate or something dead. if you push on the substrate and bubbles come up that is bad and those bubbles can and will kill shrimp. a well established tank should smell like a garden or forest after the rain. a nice rich earthy smell. OMG Aquatics
Mine would randomly have a stinky smell. I would assume a snail died or something.
