OMG Aquatics
At what PPM are nitrates poisonous/deadly to shrimp/fish? What exactly is it doing to the shrimp/fish at that level?

OMG Aquatics
I've been keeping mine at 20-40 with no issues. My guppy tank on the other hand is at about 150ppm. Doing water changes every 2 days for my guppy tank atm.
Mamashack
Generally speaking for fish no more than 40 ppm is recommended but for shrimp it needs to be consistently below 20 ppm and the lower the better really. The following research includes a table which demonstrates the long-term effects of high nitrate levels and altho the research is about shrimp destined for the dinner table, the science is the same for any shrimp I guess. http://pdf.gaalliance.org/pdf/gaa-kuhn-nov11.pdf Soothing Shrimp and OMG Aquatics
