OMG Aquatics
What do you guys use to turn flake food into powder food? Would coffee grinder work? Mortal and Pestle, crushing it with my finger/spoon are not options.

OMG Aquatics
Not much. Maybe half a cup? I tried mortal and pestle but there are still some big flakes that can't fit into fry's mouth.
Soothing Shrimp
Coffee grinder works it into powder. It will also chop cichlid pellets into powder. After that, use a small portable food processor to chop into small flakes. I buy big bags of Omega One Freshwater Flakes (giant flakes,) and chop them into small flakes with my "Family Chef" food processor. I only use flakes for my fish and Malawa though. OMG Aquatics
Would Coffee Grinder work if I'm only trying to grind 1/2 cup of flake? I would assume it would just make the flake fly around would it not?
Soothing Shrimp
I have a small portable one, and it worked fine. Keep in mind it will condense quite a bit because the air pocket space will be gone. I did smaller than 1/2 cup and I have enough powder for years now. LOL Just need them big enough to take the food processor flake and they'll take off from there. OMG Aquatics
OMG Aquatics
Would a smoothie blender work as well?

OMG Aquatics
Just bought Proctor Silex Grinder from Sears for 8 bucks. Super cheap. Going to pick it up when I have time. Hope it works like a charm Soothing Shrimp
OMG Aquatics
Wow!! For just $8, the results are unbelievable. Comparing my poor Mortal and Pestle grinding vs the 10 second Proctor Grinder, there's a huge difference. It's very powdery like Hikari Fry food. I have enough fry food for years Soothing Shrimp
