Roborep1 Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 Have API pH and high range. Getting 6.0 how do I test below this range? How would you suggest I raise this? I added a huge piece of driftwood and my guess is this is what is contributing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
High5's Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 Might need a digital meter to read below 6.0 ph. Sodium bicarbonate aka baking soda will raise it. Soothing Shrimp 1 Quote
Roborep1 Posted December 24, 2014 Author Report Posted December 24, 2014 And KH along with it? How long will it hold? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
High5's Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 I'm not sure how long it will last ,the sodium bicarbonate raises the KH that in turn raises the PH. Quote
Soothing Shrimp Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 I roughly have to add a pinch once every week-2 weeks. I have a special microspoon I use to do it so I know it's the same every time. 1 microspoon measurement raises ph around .15 or so. Quote
Shrimpy Daddy Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 Put dry aragonite into the filter. 180g per 60L of water. Adjust the amount accordingly as the pH rises. If you are using ADA AS and your tank is relatively new, you will have to be careful. Any alkaline matter, including bicarbonate recommended by others, will cause the ammonia to leech out. If you maintain your pH at around 6.2 to 6.6, the KH will not reach 1dKH. Hence, don't worry too much about raising KH. Quote
