maylee
As an impulse buy, I got some MK-Breed Z Silver powder a while ago because I knew I wanted to start a new tank eventually. I assumed the powder was sort of like Tetra Safe Start for starting the cycle. I started a 10G a couple of days ago but I ended up using Eco-Complete as my substrate and since it's not active, it doesn't have an ammonia source. I applied some of the Z Silver powder in the middle layer of the substrate. Without an ammonia source, the powder doesn't do anything, I would assume. Does that mean any benefits to the powder is gone now? Johnnydok

Dendrobatez
Not to hijack but building on your question. Is it possible to overdose and cause an ammonia spike or something similar? More often then not the instructions on these types of products aren't clear. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
EricM
this product is nitrifying bacteria. its really helpful during cycling because of the natural ammonia spike. these nitrifying bacteria love it. many add a pinch when doing water changes also. maylee
Thanks guys And should I expect it to affect water parameters in any way? pH, TDS, etc? Is there also any point in using something like Tetra Safe Start in addition to it?
