Sunsetsearider Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 I'm looking at getting a RO filter and would love some recommendations. I can either hook it to a small under sink output or a garden hose bib. I have a 40 gallon tank. Thanks. Sunsetsearider and Johnnydok 2 Quote
Shrimpie Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 I purchased this rodi unit from Spectrapure and I really like it. Comes with a garden hose connector (all their units do) http://spectrapure.com/RO-RODI/RODI-SYSTEMS/CSPDI-Manual-Flush-90-GPD-RO-DI-System Good company - good customer service Quote
EGrfx Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 Before recommending a unit you will need to know what your water is being treated with (Chlorine or Chloramine)? It does make a big difference.. If it's chloramine you will need special carbon blocks. If it's an inferior carbon block it will reduce the life of your membrane. RO alone without a DI unit will not remove ammonia. It is produced when chloramine is broken down. If it's chlorine than a four stage is sufficient enough for your TDS. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
EGrfx Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 Next question is how many gallons on average per week do you plan on using (ie: WC, top offs, etc.)? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Soothing Shrimp Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 Some good advice given already. If you just want an idea of price of cheap units, check out purewaterclub.com Quote
High5's Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 Bulk reef supply has some nice units and they include everything you need for different types of hook ups. If where you live has low water pressure you may need a booster pump also. wot_fan 1 Quote

shrymprdan Posted June 22, 2015 Report Posted June 22, 2015 +1 for Bulk Reef Supply. Their BRS Standard 75 Gpd unit has been great for me. Their "universal carbon block" filter will handle chloramine with no problem. Quote
DETAquarium Posted June 22, 2015 Report Posted June 22, 2015 I have always used AquaFX's Barracuda RODI Unit. Works fantastic, and they just came out with a newer model. Quote
