Shrimp Breeding Advice

Recommended Posts

I currently have two separate lines of the "Blue Dream" variety of Neocaridina shrimp, and was hoping to refine it further to improve the consistency of the blue coloration throughout. I understand that outcrossing or simply adding new "blood" is necessary if you desire to add more genetic diversity into your line. However, if my goal is to improve color and reduce the number that need to be culled, would it be better to mix the best into a line of their own, or keep the two lines separate and selecting the best in those? Would mixing the two potentially muddy the group?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. :)
