mosspearl
I took some pictures today to celebrate finishing up four books that had to be done by the 15th. Whew! I didn't think I was ever getting out of my cave! Anyway, today I took a break for part of the day. BV riding on a blue ramshorn: BV in the corner: BV on a leaf: Underside of a rili: Sideview of a rili: A yellow: Peeking out of the moss: More moss: It was fun to take some time with the shrimpies today. Obviously I need to pull some algae! Eek! Poor things are lucky the algae hasn't eaten them by now.
Soothing Shrimp
I don't have any control over the algae in my shrimp tanks either. LOL
mosspearl
At least I'm not the only one! LOL I'm getting better with the cell phone camera, though. Just need to practice more. I can't find any babies in the BV tank from the first batch, though I do see some from the second batch if I look hard enough. I suppose they could be good at hiding in the moss and one day they'll just pop out, but they don't come out on feeding days, either (at least, not when I'm looking). Soothing Shrimp
If you have algae on the glass, I've found they really like to eat from that for the first couple weeks.
mosspearl
I've left algae on the glass... but we see a few more often near the rocks on the bottom. Maybe they didn't read the manual? Last month's clutch are nowhere to be seen. Maybe they've morphed into invisible ninja shrimp!
Soothing Shrimp
Never see 'em coming, eh? heh As long as you have mulm or algae, they seem to do pretty well.
mosspearl
I've got mulm, algae, and shrimplet food, so they shouldn't be hurting for sustenance.
Soothing Shrimp
I'm having that problem in my TT tank. They are always berried, and I see babies, but they wind up disappearing over time.
Merth
Ive often wondered if the survival rate would be better if they were put in a well established breeder box for the first couple weeks befor egoing to general population
mosspearl
Would the mother be stressed by capturing her? says the newbie who would probably end up chasing her all over the tank.
Merth
ive never done it but seen others that have?
Soothing Shrimp
It's always a crapshoot as to whether or not mom drops the eggs when stressed. She'd be even more stressed if placed in different water params though.
mosspearl
I got a pic of a couple of the babies from the last clutch:
