Revaria
I've been having trouble growing flame moss since the beginning and was wondering how you guys do it. Mine seems to grow while dying off at the same time and never reaches the 5-6 inch tall which I see in the flame moss pictures. It also loses that flame appearance and becomes spindly, sorta like java/ Christmas moss.

Revaria
Its a bit too short to trim, but I increased the lighting a bit, hopefully that helps. ohmiko
ohmiko
If it still doesn't work, take it off whatever it's tied on and chop it up into smaller pieces and retie it back on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Tony_Shrimpster
I too think that it might be light related as not enough light is reaching lower parts of the moss possibly causing it to die. Like with most moss, they prefer cooler temperatures in the lower 70s F and good water flow so those may also be some thigs to look for. Revaria
Well the temperature is great currently, its roughly 74 and the moss survived with no damage when the temperature went to 84 for a couple of weeks during the summer. Im'a take a picture of the setup when I have time, but I'm sure its the light as there are floating plants as well as the moss.
