Roborep1 Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 Is it normal and safe to have bacter AE powder floating everywhere. It's like snow. I can see it settled all over the place after a few hours later. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
OMG Aquatics Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 This happened to me too just last week. Dosing in for new tank and it's floating at the top. Quote
Soothing Shrimp Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 Yeah, it will float some and then drift down. No worries. Quote
OMG Aquatics Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 Yeah, it will float some and then drift down. No worries. What about if it never goes down? It was just floating around the surface for about 3 days till I decided to remove it manually. Quote
Soothing Shrimp Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 Do you have an air stone? Quote
Vinn Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 Are you running a sponge filter by any chance? I ask because a sponge filter should break the surface tension so bacter would eventually sink. What I normally do when I use AE is mix it around in the water until most fall down. Hope that helps. OMG Aquatics Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 Do you have an air stone? Nope. Using a spraybar facing the other side of tank so it's just going in circles. Some dropped but most stayed at top. Quote
r45t4m4n Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 I premix mine in some tank water in a cup first, then add to the tank RyeGuy411 1 Quote
RyeGuy411 Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 I premix mine in some tank water in a cup first, then add to the tank Thats exactly what I do put it in a separate container or cup shake it up real good then pour in the tank. Sinks right away. The first time I added it I just put it in the tanks and it floated for a couple days. Quote
Roborep1 Posted December 24, 2014 Author Report Posted December 24, 2014 So mine isn't floating but I can see it on substrate. Is that normal. Does it dissolve over time. I mean it's still there 24 hours later. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
RyeGuy411 Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 There are some solid particles that dont dissolve although they are tiny. After a day I dont see them anymore I assume my shrimp must be eating them. How big of a tank and how many shrimp do you have? Quote
Roborep1 Posted December 24, 2014 Author Report Posted December 24, 2014 35L no shrimp at moment. Dosed one scoop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
RyeGuy411 Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 Well I guess the reason why there are still solid particles is that there isnt anything to eat them. Im sure some sort of bacteria or microrganism will break them down eventually. I have also heard of people presoaking objects like leaves, driftwood etc. in a solution of bacter before adding them to the tank. Quote
EricM Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 I get asked this question a lot, best thing you can do is premix it up in a glass of tank water and pour near some water flow. Quote
