I just measured the length of a couple in my tank, and I have some that are 1-2mm in length... which means that their diameter is quite a bit smaller than 1/2mm. Maybe someone more experienced than I am will weigh in, but my guess is that that mesh is too big. What size does Han use for his filter guards? It's not secret, I find the correct mesh size is between 0.700mm to 0.500mm. Just I haven't tried yet, so I ask. I have ordered #30 mesh from eBay, will try it out.
