gcorona301 Posted November 21, 2015 Report Posted November 21, 2015 Im going to start breeding fire painted cherry shrimp and I need help on whether using RO water or my tap water(of course with de chlorinated). What is the difference? Quote
Soothing Shrimp Posted November 21, 2015 Report Posted November 21, 2015 Honestly depends on your tap. Some people have magic water, others like myself weren't successful until remin+ ro. Quote
gcorona301 Posted November 22, 2015 Author Report Posted November 22, 2015 Honestly depends on your tap. Some people have magic water, others like myself weren't successful until remin+ ro. do you add any mineral additives? if you do which ones and where do you get RO water? Quote
Soothing Shrimp Posted November 22, 2015 Report Posted November 22, 2015 With tap, no minerals need added. With ro, minerals always need added for gh, tds, and more. I personally use gh+ powder, but I have lots of tanks. I'm thinking of switching to a liquid at a later time. Quote
Soothing Shrimp Posted November 22, 2015 Report Posted November 22, 2015 I'm a hobby breeder. The best way to keep my shrimp looking good is through genetics and good nutrition. I'm a fan of omniapro, ae, snowflake, and some others. Basically, offer a variety of foods with one main one, and they'll do fine. That, and cull to obtain the best genes. You don't have to, of course. Some people are just happy with a colony. Wygglz and Fishprinceofca 2 Quote

Lyana Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 I can't use my tap water either. It has a ph of 8.4 for some weird reason Quote
DETAquarium Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 As Soothing as said, its dependent on your tap water, just test the water and share the results. I would say save yourself some trouble and go with RODI water if possible. Quote
gcorona301 Posted November 23, 2015 Author Report Posted November 23, 2015 I'm going to test the water today and they post the results and hopefully you guys could tell me if I should use RO water or its okay to use my tap. thanks everyone! Quote
