Hi SP users,

So I'm in a bit of a dilemma, my family and I have some last minute thanksgiving plans and I'll be out of state for 5 days! No extra time to buy timers for all my tanks lights ! So leave them on or off?!?

Does the tanks get any light from Windows? And do you have plants? I i think plants would need light more than the shrimp since I've had shrimp lost in the mail for two weeks and all were fine.

The tanks should be fine without any lights on if you don't have plants. Also what greenteam said would be good if you have that.

No lights they'll be fine, I've gone 2 weeks before. Lights off keeps them less active, move less, eat less, etc.

Also don't over feed your better off not feeding at all 24 hrs before.

I made the mistake of leaving lights on on one tank when I went away and had quite the green algae farm when I got back. My vote no lights. Plants can go without light for that long. Even more sensitive ones will come out of it fine. After all we can ship plants in a dark box out of water in a plastic bag and they do fine. My opinion of course. And you know what they say about opinions.
