  1. Looking good! Funny how you ended up with red, white and blue in your tank over memorial weekend.
  2. Hello from Minnesota, US and welcome!
  3. Looking great! Love how they are swimming around in the flow. Looks like they are having a good time.
  4. I know people have used it with fish, but there is very little info however. Being safe for inverts and biofilm growth are definitely a must. At the least it may be able to be used and then break down over a few days much like Predator by Green Pepper Shrimps. I will keep researching! I also came across Astragalus membranaceus root, which looks promising as well. It may be time for some experiments soon! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  5. Wondering if anyone uses or has used this in their tanks. Seems like it would be a good addition to the regiment as it has the potential to block the ability of bacteria rejecting antibiotics. I am thinking this would be great in conjunction with the use of products that contain bacillus like Bacter AE and BT-9 as the bacteria naturally produce an antibiotic. It may even be able to help with bacterial infections in shrimp. It contains Berberine. From the US library of medicine; "Berberine has demonstrated significant antimicrobial activity against a variety of organisms including bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoans, helminths and chlamydia." Any experience or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
  6. I am no expert and consider myself new to this sort of thing, but I think it would depend on who you get them from. If they are reputable and honest they will tell you the cull rate (amount/percentage of shrimp with undesirable traits needing to be removed). With bloody mary you will get chocolate colored culls I believe. If you have no choice but to start with, say 10-20, let your numbers grow to 100. Then select your best 20 from them and start all over (of course pulling out any obvious undesirable shrimp you see along the way). Setup a new tank if possible for these 20 and use the old one for culls. This way you aren't fishing out 80 shrimp lol. If I have butchered this hopefully one of the advanced breeders will come along and give us both some experience. [emoji4]
  7. Thanks for the link to that thread, hadn't seen that one yet. Good info from Doc4PC2 on what I have been thinking about regarding not using buffering substrate at all.
  8. Hello Jona and welcome from the US! Nice setup there! Is that reverse UGF you are running on those tanks?
  9. Got a shirt and some bananas+herbs food from HAN Aquatics. Ordered 4 oz and he sent 10 oz, what a guy! Even threw in some samples. Shrimp are loving the bananas+herbs food. Smells so good I almost tasted it lol. Going to have to try some more.
  10. Does your tap have chloramines? I ask because those purewaterclub filters do not say they remove them or at least I didn't see it listed on the product page. You could try checking for ammonia right from your RO system, sometimes it can get through if already in the tap with the coconut carbon filter as a catalytic carbon filter could be needed. Noticed some salt water guys having these issues so thought I'd throw them out there.
  11. On the site or here? I ask because I don't see them on the site.
