ShortGirl
I recently ordered one of these on Amazon and had no idea I needed calibration solution to get started. I'm sure there are people on here that use them. How did you calibrate? Can you share any tips? Anyone make their own solution?
Mamashack
My TDS/temp meter came ready calibrated. I think there is a recalibration fluid available but I haven't needed to get any so far. ShortGirl

Soothing Shrimp
Some bottled drinking waters will have TDS and ph listed on the label. That's how I double checked my equipment before.

MN Shrimping
I found this page on maintenance on the website for the pen I use. http://www.tdsmeter.com/calibration_maintenance.html Basically, they have a solution that should be used to calibrate pen, but it also has some other good "care" info for the TDS pen h4n
Mamashack
Thanks for that link, MN - very useful information!
Doc4PC2
I have never had to calibrate mine, but I know my RO water is usually 0 to 1, so I guess that is how I calibrate mine. Mine came calibrated and I haven't had to do anything with it, but it seem to be right on. I have the TDS EZ pen, and it seems to work great. Bananariot
Ive had the TDS EZ Pen for 3 years and haven't had to calibrate it yet either. Still works. RO (school drinking water dispenser) reads like 2-15. My tap reads 50. The numbers are pretty accurate ballpark. Doc4PC2
Shrimpo
I got 12880 uS/cm and 1413 uS/cm calibration solution online. put the TDS pen on the solution and use the supplied screw driver to turn the screw until the display match the solution TDS value based on the temperatue. the bottles came with temp/TDS table. Mamashack
I've got the TDS 3 meter with temp. Have looked at the calibration socket and it's like nothing I've ever seen before. Didn't get a screwdriver with mine - if the vendor hasn't got them, any ideas where I'd get one? Have looked on eBay and can't find any. Soothing Shrimp
Do the have dollar stores (pound stores?) in the UK? Here we have stores where everything only costs a buck. Just look for precision screw drivers in the tool section.

Soothing Shrimp
I always have two ot three laying around just for that reason. It's only at the most inconvenient times that tools don't work!
h4n
Check and make sure the batteries aren't corroded! That's happen to mine sometime I pop out the batteries and wipe them down and back to business. Soothing Shrimp

Mamashack
We do have Pound shops but the socket is nothing like I've seen before neither a phillips (+) or flat head (-), but I do have some tiny optician's screwdrivers somewhere - I'll have to look them out see if they will work without wrecking the socket.
