Soothing Shrimp Posted January 8, 2015 Report Posted January 8, 2015 Don't know how I missed this post before. Yepper. That's a "wild" neo. The wild genetics are dominant, so unless you want the colony offspring to slowly turn that color, best to cull. metageologist 1 Quote
Prodigyant Posted January 9, 2015 Author Report Posted January 9, 2015 Have take out about 8 that are like this now and a couple low grade cherry want to get the best red I can will this be the best way to do this I mean cull the lower grade as I see them and what is the best way to cut them Quote
RyeGuy411 Posted January 9, 2015 Report Posted January 9, 2015 That is basicall how you do it. One thing to consider with cherries is the males are less colorful and if you cull too young you might end up with all females. Quote
Prodigyant Posted January 9, 2015 Author Report Posted January 9, 2015 What would you recommend then leave the larger slightly red males Quote
RyeGuy411 Posted January 9, 2015 Report Posted January 9, 2015 Wait untill they are large enough to sex. Then cull the least colored males and females. I had a male that when he was small wasnt red at all as he reached adult size he has pretty good red color. I would have culled him but decided to wait and now he is my only stud shrimp. Quote
Soothing Shrimp Posted January 9, 2015 Report Posted January 9, 2015 Lots of ways of culling. You can sell off culls, start a new tank of just culls, or continue with the circle of life and feed them off. Quote
