atteb Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Can Snow White Crystals be kept with Snowballs? Quote
Jynn Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 They have slightly different preferred water params, but will not interbreed. You should cater to the Crystals, as the snowballs aren't quite as picky. Soothing Shrimp and Shrimp Life 2 Quote
atteb Posted February 10, 2016 Author Report Posted February 10, 2016 Which of the 2 is the nicer looking? I do currently have 5 of the Crysatls I got on Sunday so far so good Quote
Jynn Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Which of the 2 is the nicer looking? That's an entirely subjective question. Which do YOU think is nicer looking? They're your shrimp svetilda 1 Quote
Soothing Shrimp Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 LOL Jynn is right, of course. Which do you like better? Quote
atteb Posted February 10, 2016 Author Report Posted February 10, 2016 Both but I only have the Snow White Crystals right now thought if I can put the Snowballs in there too it would be a nice display Quote
Soothing Shrimp Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Both look very nice in different ways. Neos tend to be very adaptable. However being adaptable doesn't mean that they always breed in ranges they're not used to. If you ask around, you may find some snowballs that have been bred in the ph you need. Quote
jem_xxiii Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Aren't snowballs neocaridina and crystal whites caridina? Then you should be fine, but the parameters are what you are going to have to tweak around to find an equal balance for both. Soothing Shrimp 1 Quote
atteb Posted February 10, 2016 Author Report Posted February 10, 2016 Because our water is hard high ph I do 50 tap 50 distilled for the crystals. I do not have RO/DI system nor am I getting one. If the Snowballs can be in this water that would be perfect if not then I have to put them in a different tank. I have not seen the Snowballs in real life only in pictures are they really white or more see through Quote
Jynn Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 They are transparent. What are your actual water params? Quote
Soothing Shrimp Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Snowballs are see through. They get their name from the white eggs looking like...well...snowballs. heh You can pick up ro or distilled drinking water in jugs from the local grocery store if you don't want an ro unit. Neos *may* do okay in your tap, but cards will be tricky. Quote
atteb Posted February 10, 2016 Author Report Posted February 10, 2016 I have Fire Reds and Indian Zebras both in straight treated tap water and they are doing to well. But I know from in the past Crystals do not that is why their tank is 50/50 this time around. Quote
