OMG Aquatics
Whats the air flow rate per minute needed for shrimp/fish tanks?
randy
If the air is used to drive sponge filter I don't think you can over do it. As long as shrimps can find a quiet corner, it's probably hard to overdo it anyway. So I would say you can't do wrong with it.
OMG Aquatics
What about in terms of gallons or liters per minute? I'm planning on getting this Alita AL-15A Air Pump Can it power up 12 sponge filters efficiently or too weak? Runs on 26 watts and has a air output of 20 lpm @ 1.4 psi. Soothing Shrimp
I have an AL-60 and it runs an air output of 68 lpm @ 2.18 psi. Currently it is pumping air to ~ 60 tanks with more air power when I'll eventually need it. So in theory 68 lpm/60 = ~1.13 ea tank which is more than enough. 1.13 x 12 = 13.56 and you are looking at 20 lpm, so you should be fine. The psi will depend more on how deep the sponge filters are located in your tank and how far down or up they are on your shelves. You should be fine though. randy
OMG Aquatics
How are you getting one pump to pump 60 tanks?
Soothing Shrimp
Run the line through manifolds. If you try to run valves in-line from an airline, your air pressure will become non-existant.
Soothing Shrimp
Here's a link to what I use: http://www.shrimpspot.com/index.php?/topic/351-chriss-fish-room-basement-remodel/page-4#entry5128 and http://www.shrimpspot.com/index.php?app=core&module=modcp&fromapp=members&tab=iplookup&ip=99.188.252.191 You can also visit the jehmco site and look up valves to put into pvc pipe. I used the AV1B when I started with pvc, but look at the avmp series. It may serve your purpose and your work is already done. http://jehmco.com/html/air_accessories.html randy
ctaylor3737
Def go with the largest pump you plan on having tanks and plan for a little more. Also have a 60 best thing ever bought. Soothing Shrimp
Greenteam
I have an AL 15 running 6 lines on it right now with no issues.
JamesHe
I use tetra whisper air pump 100, easy drive 8 sponge filters. 4.8W. I'm more concerned about power consumption, it's always on, so less power the better. it has dual outputs. one can drive 4 sponge filters. It's very cheap in it's on sale.
