Soothing Shrimp

Easiest SW shrimp to breed?

Recommended Posts

I. Think peppermint shrimp and sexy shrimp are easy, but all sw have a larval stage make sure your tank doesn't have corals(they eat the same food and larvae) and alot of macro alagae and pods, try live rock from here and remove corals to another tank. www.tbsaltwater.com

Haha, they are claled sexy shrimp because their tails are always bobbing up and down and it looks like theyre dancing, also they host anemones.

Here a article on peppermint shrimp breeding and training(yes you can train shrimp, most of the time it is to eat out of your hand or clean it, scarlet skunk cleaner shrimo will clean your arm if your messing around in the tank :P). http://www.fishlore.com/how-to-raise-train-peppermint-shrimp.htm

Also if you order from the site in my first post get some peppermint shrimp from them because they eat apaista(wrong spelling) pest anemones so are more desirable.

Raising sw shrimp is a different world from our fw babies. ...most need a circular motion flow like a kresiel for their larval stage. Sexies are one of the easiest because they have a shorter larval period ( 30 days)...skunk cleaners are 6 months.

Don't 'cha know it, countryboy! LOL  Although there are some great DIY kreisel tanks to make for incredibly cheap.  Like a 10g tank and water jug: http://www.ventralfins.com/diy_kreisel.html

Featherblue is a member here and had a great post on how he did one: http://www.shrimpspot.com/index.php?/topic/283-hi-all/?hl=kreisel

Ive only had a chance to try once, but it didn't go well.

My kresiel was cycled with a tank live rock and had a hydroid infection. I lost my babied after about a week as the hydroid population exploded

I had a pretty good idea it was a vain effort as the babies were born, so I took it as a learning experience. I now know how to id hydroids and to cancel the project if I see them.

Ill be trying again here in a few weeks....may have to go with no media if my rocks not ready in time.
