Greenteam
So I have a little experiment tank going and I placed 1 male shrimp with 5 females to maximize his genetic influence. Well last night I did a WC in the tank and this morning I found 3 molts in the tank resulting in 3 berried females. So if you guys ever wounder if one lone male can handle a harem of shrimp ladies the answer is yes...yes he can lol. EricM
females should always out number males for breeding tanks. i shoot for at least 3:7 M:F.
Greenteam
I do the same but I just found it funny that a single male had the energy to spend the night chasing down all 3 females. EricM

RyeGuy411
Thats so funny, I often wondered the same thing. I would imagine he would be tired after hunting one female down but apparently they have som energy!

swivel
Did you just picked out the males and females you wanted to breed and put them in the tank? How does one selective breed with 1 tank? Does everyone use a breeder box?
Greenteam
I selected the male with the gene I wanted and 5 females with genes I wanted. After F1 generation is born I will start to cull right away anything I don't want. I can't transfer tanks so this is the reason I will begin culling immediately rather then later. EricM
take all the female babies and cross back with the first male you used. do this each time.
Greenteam
take all the female babies and cross back with the first male you used. do this each time. That's exactly the plan. Removing all F1 males and only leaving females to continue singling out particular traits.
