I used Predator from GreenPepper awhile ago and all the Planaria in my tank are gone. Don't know if it targets the eggs too but I haven't seen so much as a single one crawling around in my tank since. Just make sure you follow his instructions to the letter. I did an experiment and let one of my Tigers eat the Predator (it's supposed to be used in a tea-bag so the shrimp can't eat it) and he was toast. Everyone else survived and no there are no more icky planaria in my tank.

Like dazalea said, I've seen lots of advice given out by whom I would consider pros in the hobby. Just ask your question. But the archives is where the real information is at. Almost anything you want to know can by found by searching the forums. Just now I wanted to know the difference between Royal Blue Tigers and BTOE and I found the answer by using the search feature.

Can you post a picture from a different angle? The very tail end of your shrimp is skinny and seems to indicate a fat male but the abdomen is large enough for it to be a female too. Males in general are smaller and less colorful than their female counterparts so a couple pictures from different angles or with other shrimp in the background for comparison would really help. I'm a shrimp keeping noobie so take this with a grain of salt.

I started a tank and these guys are great. Anyone else have any? I'm located in Los Angeles. Please let me know if you do, thanks

What part of that came off as sarcasm? South Africa's aquarium hobby laws are obviously different from the States and you even answered the question. Also, stuff on aliexpress and alibaba is much cheaper than anywhere else and will usually ship to anywhere in the world.
-
You can also speed up the process by using a product like Tetra SafeStart or Fluval Bio Enhancer if you don't want to wait.
-
Are fish illegal too? gH & kH test kits are for all aquariums, not just shrimp keeping ones. So is pretty much everything else related to substrate, water, or lightning. If fish are legal, you can purchase all of these online at eBay or alibaba. http://www.ebay.com/gds/Beginners-Guide-to-ebay-for-South-Africans-/10000000016382951/g.html

I've been feeding my shrimp Hikari Shrimp Cuisine and I noticed one of the ingredients is copper. I've always heard copper is bad for shrimp and to avoid it at all costs so I researched more and found this answer from Hikari: "... too much copper in the diet will kill the shrimp. But, shrimp need a very small amount of copper in their food for good health. Not like us(humans), animals or fish, most shrimp use copper to deliver oxygen inside of their body. For example, we (humans) have red blood cells which contain hemoglobin. Hemoglobin contains iron metal (Fe), and this iron actually absorbs oxygen at large and delivers this oxygen to every part of body and organs. However, in the case of Shrimp, they have Hemocyanin in their blood cells, with copper metal. They use copper to deliver oxygen to their vital organs and circulatory system. That is why their blood is clear or green color rather than red color like ours (humans). We hope this additional information helps!" Is this stuff safe for all shrimp? I have cherries and tigers and they love to eat this.

It's only been 3 days, right? Losing 1/20 in your first week isn't too bad. You could chalk that up to stress from moving. How did you drip acclimate?

gH and kH are more important than pH. a sudden change in pH can be uncomfortable and bad for breeding but osmosis shock has a much higher kill rate IIRC

There's a member here from South Africa, you should ask if he knows where to get shrimp http://www.shrimpspot.com/index.php?/profile/2027-maurice/

Hmm kind of looks like they could be Nerite snails too. I've only encountered Pond, Ramshorn, and Trumpet snails before and then only in my fish tank. Whenever I saw them I would just crush them because the fish love to eat them. Maybe somebody with more experience can tell?
