So this is just to show the potential of what can be done with this little guys.I don't think it is about the lack of demand or size, as you said there are some small breeders. Certainly you won't be able to make a living out of it here and that will limit how many hours a day you can devote to selective breeding and there are certainly breeders here that are more focus on production (for selling) rather than breeding out certain traits but all it takes is the right motivation (a drive for perfection), a small number of tanks dedicated to the line plus extras for any sub lines and time; lots and lots of patience The main issue here is that we around 2 years behind Europe and Asia. But I think we are slowly catching up. I have seen some great work done on home bred PRL lines here already so I think the potential is definitely there! Most breeders most their time and energy on the breeding side as well as real life stuff (again since this is not there full time gig) and are some rather reclusive. Since we are dropping names there are a number of breeders here in Canada that were my inspiration when I started out and IMO done some pioneering work in the area up here; they were definitely ahead of their time and more "in-sync" with global developments. Guys like Ebi-Ken & MananaP out west and CrystalMethShrimp out east. There was also a couple of guys out east who brought in JPRL 5-6 years ago when when it was hard to even find red cherry shrimps! In the states, DK did some amazing things with her Black Tiger crosses and this was 3-4 years ago. There are probably many more I am not familiar as well. Even sharing personal ideas can be the catalyst for a wave of flames. On top of that, there are importers and sellers that will do shady things towards another person, or downright cross the line- just to put another person out of business. It's very easy to become burned out when "bad" things come at you. It's not just all smiling faces, which is why this forum is so important. Here we tend to police ourselves much of the time and for lack of a better word, have a place to "relax" and encourage each other. Her tigers were amazing. I'm sad I never got a chance to get them because she had amazing Rusty OEBT, which I've been hunting for. They seemed to dropped out of favor in the hobby. Overall, DK was cool, but then things got weird when she started referring herself in the 3rd person and starting only updating about her house improvement projects. I never did figure out if she continued her projects since folks moved over to ShrimpSpot. She was developing T-Rex Tigers from what I remember. I totally agree and that's why when something new comes out and it's too fabulous to be real, I'm always questing it. I reread some of my older posts and I find that I sound like a bad guy, but a majority of the stuff is hearsay and folks blindly endorse something so newer folks entering the hobby blindly follow. It's like that monkey experiment, eventually folks don't know why they buy something in the first place. There needs to be more open knowledge shared amongst each other. I'm in favoring of buying new stuff but Id like to see some results but there usually isn't any. Ebi-Ken! Frank is way ahead of the game. loving talking with him and learning things all the time! There's been a few folks mate. There's Mordalphus, Gabezone (not sure if folks even remember this OG shrimper), and the original owner of planetinverts (an amazing hub of information before things got sour), Those are a few that I can list that hasn't already been listed. I think Gabezone was amazing, I remember his posts on Taiwan Bees and his amazing store in Japan years before Taiwan Bees even made it to NA. Mordalphus was a cool dude. He sold shrimps and shrimp related stuff but had a lot of insight on the shrimping information. He sorted dropped out of the hobby due to the hobby getting sour for him. Those are a bunch of good folks I've love to see get back into the hobby. I actually emailed Mordalphus but I don't think he ever joined.
