Usually the color intensity if most important in males, as from my understanding these are the primary genes that pass to the shrimplets. Usually when I culled my Fire Red tank, I would wait until they were juvenile to sub-adult age, prior to them being able to breed. This allows you to give the shrimp time to mature and their color to enhance. Sometimes people will have a cull tank set aside so if they cull a shrimp and the color intensifies later down the road they can move them back to the general population.
