I made a very small syphon from a hard drinking straw, air tube and a jar with a lid and syphoned my subsrate. I don't have them any more but I still syphon all of my tanks. But now I use a turkey baster and let the dirty water stay a couple of days and look for shrimplets in there. It's easy to use white bowl for this (or transparent and put it on something white). PlantDude Posted January 18, 2016 Report Share Posted January 18, 2016 I also recommend using shrimp bowls, or something where you put the food instead of dropping it directly on the substrate.
