fernselvis
Hi I have duck weed in my shrimp tanks, one of the tanks has ton of just roots floating and on the bottom on the soil. Anyone has faced a similar issue. Also really annoyed with it because it stuck and dried on the glass and clumped up. Thank you.
Mr. F
Hi I have duck weed in my shrimp tanks, one of the tanks has ton of just roots floating and on the bottom on the soil. Anyone has faced a similar issue. Also really annoyed with it because it stuck and dried on the glass and clumped up. Thank you. The roots will decay eventually, but you could throw on a mini or low flow HOB filter without a intake guard, if you don't have shrimp in there. The duckweed is nearly impossible to get rid of, but I currently succeeded in my 20L by removing little by little over a week, then doing a water change and adding the water back with airline tubing to wash down the dried clumps back down into the water and clear again. Then for the next week or so, any time you see a single duckweed, GET IT OUT! Lol. Hope this helps.
fernselvis
Can't understand why the roots are decaying or falling of only in one tanks. I supposed to be good. For the tank but it messy and ugly I'll remove it and only keep frog bite much easier to deal with. EricM
fernselvis
Going to try a fix. Your thoughts. Going to use plastic straws to make rectangle or square and add all the floating plants in that. Will upload a picture once I have done it tomorrow. Would the plastic straw effect the water or shrimp ?

Toads74
Used to feed duckweed to my rainbows. I think your current was too high for it, so it piled up and got blown around th tank. I had much better results with sponge filters. The current they generate keeps it on the surface much better. It's one of those plants I love in the right setup and hate in the wrong one. fernselvis
Hello Guys things seem to be going well @ home - crs tank and panda with mischling breeding well. -Blue bolt fry didn't survive. The adults are kind of fussy with most food, I moved the extreme black kingkong ( lost 2 from the same blue bolt tank ) and some pandas to their a new tank seem to be ok. Tank is supper green water coz of the way I cycled it so I can't see them properly yet. I dont have green algae growing in all my tanks but some brownish red stuff and white stuff in the miscling and panda tank tho they don't seem to effected at all which doesn't look like bio film. I also have a wired green tentacle type algae I think that closes if you touch it in all my tanks. Anyone seen this before, picture from my phone so it's not that great. On a sad note I lost a whole colony of crs and cbs may be 300+ in my office tank. No idea what went wrong only change was I add some jbl nutrient balls in the soil and attack some moss using super glue to sponge for the trees.
