I have been EI dosing, and have found that this regimen, with large water changes and shrimp do not mix well. I have been looking into "shrimp safe" fertilizers, but have just about given up with having shrimp in a high tech setup.

Thank you! Ill definitely take the salty shrimp remineralizer into account and do my homework on it. Also I see what you mean on the 10% water changes. It would be super helpful! i also have cholla wood in the tanks at the moment so ill experiment with what the shrimp respond the most positively to and go from there.

Hello community. I have caught the bug this past year for planted aquaria and am now suffering from MTS (oh what a problem to have!) I have two high tech planted aquariums that are doin beautifully and have amanos in both of those, but I recently built a 10 gallon moss tank and a 10 gallon bucephalandra tank that I want to stock with other shrimp. After doing my research, I was thinking of stocking one with neocaridinas such as green jades, goldenback yellows, or bloody marys, and the other with Pure Red Line Shrimp. What do you guys think? Here are my setups at this time. Hello everyone! Question. I have had seiryu stones in my tank since inception, and started checking TDS when I added shrimp about a month ago. My tank water is moderately hard, and perform 10% water changes with RODI water (not remineralized) to lower the TDS in the tank. I have seen my TDS get as low as the 180s but it continues to trend upwards even with regular water changes and has gotten as high as 280 ppm. I know that the stones are the primary issue, but I am trying to think of ways that I can keep the hardscape while maintaining consistent TDS levels in the tank. Any and all insights would be appreciated.

Do you use anything else besides RO water for water changes? Your KH is very low, which reduces buffering capacity allowing large pH swings. Is there anything else in the tank that could be softening your water? Anything different in filtration media?

1)Do you have a TDS meter? A GH/KH test kit would also be helpful. As for using RODI water, its hard to say how much you need to add until we have your tank water parameters. Is there anything like your hardscape or substrate that could be contributing to your hardness? What about your tap water? I cannot attest to adding GH+ but I will say go slowly when you add RODI to your system by dripping it in. 2) What is your stock at this time? Based on how stocked your tank it you can use aq advisor (http://aqadvisor.com/) to determine the percent water changes that you will need to make weekly. Its a pretty good guide for stocking levels and to see if you have your bases covered with filtration.

This is just about everything you need to look for in a light for a planted tank. i also have the planted plus but another good one from finnex is the Stingray. Also Current makes some great lights for low-tech setups (Satelite series). Since you wont have a cover, be aware of evaporation and leave an inch or two from the top so you don't have random shrimp suicides!

I have dosed fenbendazole twice in my 15 gallon aquarium with great success getting rid of planaria and detritus worms. Make sure to finely crush the powder, dose on day one and three, and then perform a water change on day 4. In the long run, feed less so that there arent excess nutrients for them to thrive off of. How are you performing your water changes? how are you adding water to the tank?

I have tried multiple foods including snowflake, shirakura, and omnia pro and they arent interested in it. They seems to appreciate the bio film though
