  1. Over the past 4 years or so, I’ve kept shrimp. About 2 years ago, I ventured into the Caridinas and purchased an assortment of beautiful, high quality shrimp from a bunch of different places online and in Los Angeles where I live. I kept them separated but at some point I got busy and put them all in a tank together rather than taking care of a bunch of tanks. They have bred multiple generations and I let the tank go fairly wild without watching them so now I have no idea what these shrimp hybrids are! I have had all the Taiwan Bee varieties— BB, Pandas, KK, etc. and some high grade CRS and CBS, a yellow KK, some all white ones (can’t remember the name!) and several spectacular pintos. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY TIGERS! I’m assuming these yellow tiger-esque shrimp came from the pinto or the ykk (or both!! I thought I saw them mating at one point last year.) I think the only shrimp with spider legs that I’ve had were those gorgeous pintos. The shrimp in the first photo is currently berried and I have no idea who the father is… What do you think? What combo might these yellow tigery shrimp be? I’m attaching pics of some of the shrimp I have or have had in the past few years in that tank that are possibly part of the genetics. It put some upside down for some reason. Thanks! Rebecca Some of the other shrimp I keep/kept in the same tank:
  2. Hello, I would like to introduce Mugilogobius sarasinorum but I am afraid they will eat shrimp. Do you know a list of fish compatible with shrimp?
  3. Help, 40 litre tank has a ich (ichthyophtyirius multifiliis) / white spot outbreak. We've been able to separate the few surviving neon tetra into an emergency quarantine tank, with appropriate medicine for the fish. We had done this as we had noticed the issue practically too late as we miss identified the white spots as cotton mouth (which the tetra also have). We luckily quarantined the fish from the tank as the ich reached its second stage as most have matured and abandoned the fish. This has become an issue as even if the neon tetra do not survive the treatment, I cannot re-add them to the tank and I don't want to keep the tank's environment full of parasites. Thankfully ich seem to not be able to effect the shrimp but the medicine we have for them is toxic to the shrimp and the plants in the tank, hence the separating of the neon tetra. I was wondering if there was anything I can do to the tank while the shrimp are still in the tank, as removing them isn't a viable option. We've been trying to get the temp of the tank to 30C and leaving it at that temp for an hour, however the tank's heater is verry slow and doesn't seem to be going up past 27C. From what I've searched 30C should kill of the ich without irritating the bloody mary shrimp too much (too many websites vary their recommended temp, so i wouldn't keep it above 28C long if we were able to get it that high) If anyone knows if there are any ich treatments or methods of killing ich that are safe for invertebrates and potentially plants I would love if they could suggest one.
  4. Hi, today I've noticed this specific shrimp hanging on to the floating plant today. It was there when I fed the fish at 7:30, still there when I came home at 1pm and is still there as I'm posting. There is a second smaller shrimp, it was there when I got back, but is moving between the plants. Yesterday we did a water change with some medicine for cotton mouth for the neon tetra in the tank, so it might be that that is causing the shrimp to be irritated. Water tests seem to come up fine but the test kit we have isn't easy to understand. Otherwise I'm unsure why these shrimp are doing this. other shrimp seem to be fine, with the biggest one swimming and moving about as they usually do. Would love if anyone knows why they would be doing this? IT WAS THE MEDICINE. phenoxyethanol can make fish and shrimp drowsy and a bit sluggish. May have even irritated the ma bit due to not removing the carbon from the filter, not allowing the medicine to work properly.

  14. Hey everyone, It's time for me to cull some of my blue diamond herd. So far I have managed to net 30+ in to a breeder box. I still have some more that are being difficult to catch which I'll be adding. I know there is at least one in the box that's berried. Most are juvenile to sub-adult in size. They will range in various colors but most all are brown. I'll include a couple of blue ones. I am asking $65.00 for all these shrimp. They will be shipped in kordon breather bags with a bit of moss inside an insulated box. Shipping is only available within the CONUSA. I accept Paypal only. Feel free to contact me with any questions. My parameters are PH- 6.8-7.0 TDS- 180 GH-6 KH- 0-1 Temp- 70-72 SHIPPING: USPS Priority - $15.00 (No DOA Guarantee) USPS Express - $35.00 (DOA Guarantee) DOA guarantee will only be valid if you send me a clear picture of the dead shrimp inside the bag next to my shipping label within an hour of their arrival. All the pics are from my BD tank. The offspring from these culls have a good chance turning out like some of the shrimp in the pics.

  16. Currently I have the dennerle shrimp king 10 gallon, and I do really enjoy it, but I'd to upgrade relatively soon as I have the room for most 15-20s, unfortunately even though dennerle DOES sell a 20g version of the shrimp tank, I can't find a place to purchase it anywhere. And I figured this would be a good place to get some suggestions, are there any tanks in the 15-20 gallon range you would recommend? I'd prefer it come with decent lighting or lower on the price end so I can buy a decent light, obviously since this is a shrimp tank I'd like something with a good filter either in tank or all in one, but not a deal breaker. Other than that I'm open to suggestions. I was looking at the cobalt c-vue but 220 for an 18g with no lights doesn't sit well with me. Anything you guys can think of?
  17. I like taking pictures of my shrimps with my Nikon and my cellphone camera. Feel free to post some of your favorite shrimp pics here to share. Here's a few of mine to start
  18. So about half an hour ago i was just checking my neoc aquarium and i’ve realized that one of my shrimps has this black hue that starts from where the eggs should be located (im saying should because i cannot really gender it) to the start of its spinal area. it kinda looks suspicious idk if its the eggs becoming “fertile” (because its a young shrimp its not a juvenile nor a complete adult) or is it something parasitic. My parametres are healty and my aquarium has no potential of having any type of parasite or disease. If anyone can identify what it is it would be awesome. I think its just the eggs and she’s probably cookin up something down there (Edit) ok so i searched on the internet about Neocaridina shrimp saddles and i saw the same exact spot on other shrimps so that could be the saddle
  19. Neo.mp4 Neo.mp4 Neo.mp4 I've noticed recently that some of my shrimp have a white looking growth between their whiskers. I thought it might be just part of the shrimp, but seeing it particularly larger on one of them has led me to believe that it might be some sort of fungal growth. Please let me know what you guys think of it from a this video
  20. Hey Shrimpers! Two months ago I bought a group of PRL Crystal Reds from a seller and I was really happy to notice that a few of them had red eyes! So I did some research online and to see if it’s common? Do any of you guys also have any CRS with red eyes? I’m aware that some people might say that they have been mixed with golden bees, but I doubt it since I trust the seller! Heres a picture of one of the bigger ones Should I try and cull the red ones to see if this trait can be bred?

    30G Breeder

So I just got moved into my new place a slowly settling in. So far I have not had the chance to work on my 30g breeder project, but today I had the day off and try to do the most that I could. Here's what the plan is so far. 1. Divide tank into 3 sections 2. figured out filtration 3. start cycle ASP
  22. Hi, thanks in advance for helping! I have a heavily planted 2 gallon nano tank with one ghost shrimp. I'm looking for tank mates, preferably solitary becuase I don't have the room for fish fry:). The tank is heavily planted, with 3 Marimo moss balls, 6 small water wisteria, and some natural decor and a cave. Ideas please? Tank specs are: Tempurature- a constant 69 pH- constant 7.8 ammonia/nitrites/all that jazz- 0ppm except for nitrates, which is about 15-20ppm usually The tank has undergone the nitrogen cycle. Thanks! This is a picture of the tank, to get a sense of dimensions. The flashy gravel was chosen by the youngest child in our family.
  23. Hey, brand new to this forum and just looking for a bit of advice. I have three ghost shrimp in my community tank. Two males and one female. They appear to be molting A LOT. Like I must have seen atleast 4 in the past two weeks...is this normal? I've heard molting can be a sign of I'll health. But they're all active and what not. Any advice would be fab please!
  24. Does anyone know what this shrimp is called? Grade? Quality? Tell me anything you can, thnx.
