  1. Who will be the F10 TBM? Clean TB or TBM? According to the logic of F7-8+ Mischling gene must be lost, and will only have the genes of TB when administered to careful selection of course. Correct me if I'm wrong, please. It's important to ID my shrimp in the sale. For example: TB x CRS = Mischling F1 Mischling F1 x TB = Mischling F2 and TBM F1 TBM F1 x TBM F1 = TMB F2 TBM F2 x TBM F2 = TBM F3 ... TB(M?) F10 x TB(M?) F10 = TB Fn or TBM F11 ?
  2. hello, i have first Shadow juvenile and i have some question about it in my mind. This blue color is what?! - secondary surface colour of TB? black, red, white is primary-dominant - is it subsurface color of TB's body, which sometimes go to surface into primary colors? - is it only tint of white colour of TB? some failure of genetics of white TB color? thank you very much for all answers/ideas... :-)
  3. Anyone knows this shrimp? From my mix-tank with TB's, zebra pintos and Tai-tibees (I try to make some better photos, my macrolens just arrived) The first photo has some brown-red reflection, but the shrimp is completely black and white.
  4. Hey all, I have finally gotten a TB only tank up and running with a handful of blue bolts, shadow pandas and a few red bolts and goldens. When I got some of my BB in I noticed this one right away and was curious if this is categorized as a BB or pushes into the blue steel realm? Keep in mind this coloration was after acclimation and being in the tank only a few minutes. Now the white tail is very bold and the blue markings are strong but still just the same split. (lights off Ill snag a current picture tomorrow) Moving forward which females should I try and breed him with the strengthen the line?

  8. Has anyone ever actually tried to mix a Neo and Crystal or Bee shrimp? I know everyone says they can't interbreed but I have a very reputable source that says it is possible. From what I hear the only difference between the two is a variation on one pair of legs that are used during mating. The differnece is very slight and in the right situations a cross is possible. Think about ligers and zonkeys and beefalo very unlikely but technically possible. Any input would be appreciated, I'm trying it right now anyway.
  9. does anyone know where i can find controsoil in the NYC long island area? i know amazon has it but i kinda need it ASAP.

  11. I had my first batch of TB babies born on February 11th and until last night had a 100% survival rate. I came home and found one of the shrimplets dead, very odd but im hoping that was just a random death so im not that concerned. The main issue is the two batches of babies born since February 0 survival. I have tested all my paramers. When my Golden Bee gave birth my TDS was pretty high about 200 and I was pretty sure they all died within the first week because of molting issues. The last batch of TB babies were born about a week ago and within a week I cant see any of them anymore. My tank currently has a pH of 6.4, TDS of 160, gH 4, kH 0. N02, No3 and Amonia 0. I am kind of stumped, the only conclusion I am reaching for the last batch is maybe pH? When my first batch of TB were born the pH was 6.2 and has slowly raised in the last month to 6.4 maybe 6.5. When the babies are born I have been dosing a small amount of Bacter and started small amounts of Boss baby food. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Ryan
  12. I noticed a few weeks back when I upgraded my light to the Finnex Planted + that when I take the cover off my tank there are quite a few flies on the surface of the water. They look very similar to fruit flies, the same size and shape, the only difference being that they are a light green color. The flies are alive stuck to the surface of the water when I open the lid so I constantly scoop them out with a net. I am having an increased number of these flies and now can see them flying between the water surface and the plexi lid while the lid is on. Yesterday I saw that whatever they are they must be laying eggs in the tank, there are tiny worm like larvae that collect at the water surface. Im pretty sure these are not harmful in any way but they are for sure annoying. Any thoughts on what they are, how to get rid of them etc?

  15. So my berried BB had decent blue but now that it is berried it is turning really blue. She is around 12 days berried and she is turning like blue berry blue, its really quite beautiful. I was told by Mayphly that this happens so I was expecting it but not quite as dramatic as it is. My question is why do they turn more blue? Is it hormonal, or nutrients in their bodies? I have actually stopped feeding this tank about two weeks ago. The bio film is pretty epic and they seem to have lost most interest in prepared shrimp foods. I will update with a pic tonight if I can get a good shot of her. I just really noticed how blue she has gotten in last couple days this morning when I was on my way out the door.
  16. I am so excited, I woke up yesterday morning and did my usual shrimp count. I saw two fresh molts in the tank and upon closer inspection I see my one BB is berried!! This really caught me off guard since I couldnt see that she had a saddle becuase of her color and I have seen one of my Golden Bees that does have a saddle. I was expecting the first shrimp to berry would have been the golden. So now im curious what male got to her it would be either another BB or a Golden. What offspring would you expect from a BBXGolden? I wish I had a camera that took clear enough pictures to share.
  17. I didn't get anything related to shrimping for Christmas except for the pintos that I bought for myself. That doesn't really count. So, I was wondering if anyone received or gave something related to shrimp for Christmas?
